John wrote his gospel so that “you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.” In this series we will look at the seven signs John uses to point to Jesus’s divinity and messiahship, and then focus on some of the commands Jesus gives which explain what “life in His name” means for us.

Jesus’ healing of a man born blind points to the greater miracle of spiritual sight and salvation being given by Jesus to those who believe in him. As John Newton famously wrote in the hymn “Amazing Grace” centuries later, “I was blind but now I see”.
