With its roots in Old Testament wisdom and the teachings of Jesus, James’s letter is full of practical challenge. It will not let believers be complacent when things are good, or give up when things are bad. Instead, it gives us a vivid portrait of the life God wants us to live – and stern warnings about what He hates – with the ultimate goal of conforming us to the image of Jesus.
