What will I be doing?

You can choose what you want to be involved in at King’s. There areas of church life such as kids, youth, or student work. We also have community projects like King’s Tots, Hub104, and Evergreen. And being part of the staff team means there will be lots of other opportunities to get involved in things you might not even have thought of.

You’ll also be travelling for theological training with other church interns from around the UK: looking at the essentials of faith and discipleship that will give you a foundation for the rest of your life. Part of this training will include a mission trip abroad with this group. To complement all this, you will have time to study during the week.

How will I be supported during the year?

Lisa Loughren, a member of the King’s staff team, will be your point person during the year. She will support you in the day-to-day of your internship, working with you to plan the year in line with your interests and giftings, and supporting you to challenge yourself in new areas too.

Lisa will have pastoral check ins with you regularly and you will also have a mentor who will meet with you during the year. You will be encouraged to be an active part of a small group and to prioritise spending time with God.

How much will it cost?

King’s will cover the cost of your training, so there is no cost for taking part in the internship. Interns will be expected to find accommodation in the city for the year, and King’s will pay a grant of up to £4,000 for each intern to help towards living costs for the year.

You may need to find a flexible part-time job to help meet the rest of your needs.

How do I apply?

The application form can be found here, and applications will close on Friday 7th June 2024. Lisa will invite each person who has applied for an informal chat; if there are specific areas that you’re interested in, please let us know so we can involve a relevant person from that area to meet with you too.

Lisa will let you know if you’ve been invited for the internship soon after this, and she will meet with you before September to talk through the plan for the year.
